Sensopart is expanding its F 25 miniature sensor series to include a diffuse reflection sensor with foreground suppression. The functional principle of the diffuse sensor with foreground suppression can be compared to that of a retro-reflective sensor, whereby a fixed background with a constant distance is used as a reference - a virtual reflector, so to speak - instead of the reflector. The geometric distance measurement (triangulation) ensures that any objects are detected regardless of shape, color, material and surface texture and that interfering environmental influences are suppressed. Once the reference background has been taught in, all objects located between the sensor and the background are detected within a scanning range of 200 mm. Alternatively, the sensor can be set using the integrated switching window function so that only objects within a certain distance range are included in the detection. For example, interfering parts between the sensor and the sensing object - such as a robot gripper or other moving machine parts - can be masked out. The diffuse sensor enables flexible dovetail mounting, teach-in via button or control cable and the auto-detect function. It is housed in a high-density plastic housing (IP69K and IP67).
