Bartec has expanded its portfolio with an add-on module for HART-compatible field devices (Highway Addressable Remote Transducer). The HART modem, which was developed in collaboration with automation manufacturers, can be connected to the expansion port of the 'Agile X' industrial tablet PC system. This allows field devices - such as a sensor or a valve - to be read out or set wirelessly, independently of the control system. According to the manufacturer, the intrinsic safety of the modems provides users with an integrated and efficient solution that is also suitable for mixed operation. For example, flow measurements can be carried out consecutively during gasoline loading in the hazardous area and in a sewage treatment plant in the non-hazardous area.
