Process control system 800xA from ABB

ABB is presenting the new version 6 of the 800xA process control system for the first time in Hanover. It uses the current Microsoft operating system Windows MS 8.1 / Server 2012 R2 and is therefore particularly aimed at older automation systems from both ABB and other manufacturers that are based on operating systems that are no longer supported. Among other things, System 800xA V6 complements the existing security features such as access control or white listing and offers further options for monitoring and managing control system security, such as simpler system installation for optimized host rules and automatic setting of system hardening procedures or digital code signing to ensure that the permitted code is installed and used. Also new are wireless routers for the secure use of mobile clients, maintenance workstations and process controllers. With the "800xA Collaboration Table", which can be used to display key performance indicators (KPIs) of the system in three dimensions, ABB is also breaking new ground in terms of data visualization, maintenance and analysis. Last but not least, there is new long-term archiving that improves data acquisition speed and access to real-time data above the control system network level, as well as a new management platform for agnostic system information for analysis for continuous optimization.
