At the world's largest trade fair for lighting and building technology, Light+Building 2014, ABB is presenting the new KNX hazard alarm control panel GM/A 8.1, which it claims is the first alarm system that can be fully integrated into the global KNX standard (ISO/IEC 14543-3-x) and at the same time fully complies with the international standard requirements for alarm technology (ISO/IEC 62642). An Ethernet connection is used for parameterization, diagnostics and operation via a standard web browser and for integration into the building network. The alarm sensors and detectors are connected either via direct inputs or via a security bus, which is also used to connect the arming device to the control panel. The control panel also has connections for the newly developed operating devices and for internal, external or remote alarming. Finally, the integrated KNX connection enables the display of alarm statuses via the display devices of the building system technology on the one hand and the automatic control of building functions with the aid of the alarm sensors on the other. The new KNX hazard alarm control panel will be available from August 2014.
