With e-skin, Igus is launching a hose consisting of an upper and lower shell that is completely closed when plugged together. The reclosable opening mechanism enables easy maintenance and inspection of the cables used. In contrast to conventional corrugated hoses, this solution has a defined direction of movement and is also self-supporting. This means that it can also be used as a horizontal cable carrier for short unsupported lengths. Thanks to its oval design, the modularly expandable conduit also offers more space than round corrugated conduits. Cables can be routed gently using internal partitioning modules. In addition to "e-skin", Igus offers e-shell as a reinforcement for existing corrugated conduit systems: The clip is simply attached to the normal corrugated conduit so that the joints of the corrugated conduit are filled on the upper side. This stabilizes it and means it can only move in one direction. The guide elements on both sides give the corrugated hose a self-supporting length.
