National Instruments presents the NI PXIe-8880 controller, which is based on an Intel Xeon processor, and the NI PXIe-1085 chassis, which uses 3rd generation PCI Express technology. According to the manufacturer, the combination of an octa-core Intel Xeon E5-2618L-v3 processor and a bandwidth of 24 GB/s across the entire system enables high performance for compute-intensive applications and applications with high parallelism. The embedded controller has eight cores, DDR-4 memory of up to 24 GB and 24 lines to the backplane based on the 3rd generation PCI Express connection. In addition, the new 18-slot chassis features 3rd generation PCI Express technology with eight lines per slot for a bandwidth of 24 GB/s across the entire system. In conjunction with Labview system design software, the PXI controller and next-generation PXI chassis enable 24 GB/s bandwidth.
