WEG presents the energy-efficient
permanent magnet motors of the W22 series. With an efficiency of 96.6% and significantly reduced losses compared to IE4 motors, this is one of the first motors on the market to meet the previously formulated criteria of a possible energy efficiency class IE5, according to the manufacturer. From 2015 or 2017, IE3 asynchronous motors or alternatively IE2 motors operated with a frequency inverter will be mandatory for the majority of industrial applications in accordance with EU motor directive EC 640/2009. Users can either implement the legal requirements with a W22 IE2 motor in combination with a frequency inverter from the 'CFW 11' and 'CFW11M' series, opt directly for a solution with a W22 motor of classes IE3 or IE4 or rely on the new permanent magnet motor, which has even lower losses. The company is also presenting the further developed explosion-proof asynchronous motors from the W22x series, which are now also available in IE4 versions on request.
