As part of a comprehensive update, the Lexium 62 servo amplifier series from Schneider Electric, which is relevant for 'PacDrive 3', has been expanded to include special versions for safety-related automation. Compared to the standard drives, the devices have an extended range of safety-related functions: STO, SS1, SS2, SOS, SLS, SDI positive/negative and SMS. An option module makes the same range of functions available for the integrated servo drives in the Lexium 62 ILM series, which enable concepts for automation without control cabinets by relocating the control electronics of a servo drive to the field. The option module is flange-mounted to the standard electronics of the drives. All functions are certified for the direct implementation of solutions for machine safety up to Cat. 4/PL e in accordance with EN ISO 13849-1 and SIL 3 in accordance with IEC 61508. All safety functions can be implemented with standard motors from the 'Lexium SH3', 'Lexium SHS' and 'Lexium MH3' series. With both series - Lexium 62 and Lexium 62 ILM - safe and non-safe units can be mixed as required. On the engineering side, PLCopen safety-compliant function blocks support the integration of the safe drives and drives into the safety-related, IEC-61131-compliant program of the 'Modicon' safety controllers available for 'PacDrive/Sercos' communication.
