With SLC/SLG 445, Schmersal is launching a new series of safety light curtains and light grids onto the market. The muting function enables safe temporary bridging of the safety light curtain in order to transport goods or objects into or out of the danger zone. For this purpose, muting sensors are connected to the safety light curtain to detect the object. Communication between the light curtain and muting sensors is handled by the series' integrated control unit, which also monitors the correct status of the bridging of the safety function. Preconfigured parameter settings provide solutions for different object sizes, variable transport speeds, material loading with gaps and unpredictable belt stops. Additional protection to prevent access to the danger zone is offered to the operator by a teach-in protective field (teach-in, pallet height) and an enable function of the muting application. A field distributor with integrated connection cable is available for the "plug & play" connection of a maximum of four muting sensors, an additional muting light, an override command device and the transmitter. The series can be used as a type 4 optoelectronic protective device in accordance with EN 61496-1 up to performance level E in accordance with EN 13849-1 or SIL 3 in accordance with EN 62061.
