The programmable electronic modules of the SM13 series from a.b. jödden contain the in-house ASIC 'SM17' for operating inductive displacement and angle sensors. They supply the sensors with a stabilized AC voltage and convert the measurement signal into a DC voltage proportional to the measured displacement or angle. A 16-bit A/D converter digitizes this and processes it in a microcontroller. The digital information is converted into a standardized output signal of 0 (4) to 20 mA or 0 to 5 (10) V using a 16-bit D/A converter. The basic amplification is preset via jumpers and a potentiometer. The start and end points of the measuring range can be programmed via buttons or terminal connections. Optionally, the measured values can be corrected using the accuracy deviations of the sensor to be connected, which are stored in an EEPROM.
