Switch off at Safety - no thanks!
Today, safety-related control systems for machines and systems are designed in such a way that a safe state is assumed when faults are detected in safety-related components. This is achieved in almost all situations by switching off the power.
For a single machine, this usually means a machine stop.
The presentation shows the basics and a new concept of how, in redundant architectures with a qualified fault diagnosis and a corresponding evaluation, continued operation is possible for a limited time under certain conditions. Operation in a degraded state thus complements the principle of energy separation.
For the user, this opens up a multitude of new, additional possibilities in the applications. For example, a work step or shift can be completed without the hard stop that was previously required.
Rolf Schumacher, Senior Safety Consultant at Sick, welcomes you to the presentation "Switching off with safety - no thanks!".
Date: November 26, SPS Connect - 2:10 - 2:30 p.m.
About Rolf Schumacher
Rolf Schumacher studied electrical engineering at RWTH Aachen University.
He then worked as a test engineer for the initial commissioning of machine tools, as a development engineer in the design of spinning and winding machines and as a project engineer for the development of equipment for the automation of processes.
He has been a standards specialist at Sick since 2004, where he is a Senior Safety Consultant.
