Freshworks study
Desire for more AI in the Workplace
According to the latest "AI Workplace Report" by Freshworks, almost 42% of German employees would swap their job for a position where AI is used. 30% of German employees state that they have already received a pay rise or promotion as a result of using AI.
For the survey, 4,000 employees and managers from various industries and functions worldwide were questioned. The results show that employees have not only integrated AI into their day-to-day work, but would like to see more of it. Since the beginning of last year, the opinion of 52% of German employees about AI has changed for the better. When asked why, 54% said that they now have a better understanding of AI; 48% believe that AI does more for them and 43% believe that the tools offer tangible added value. Interestingly, 29% of German employees stated that they would not be able to manage their workload without AI.
Hesitant attitude towards AI no longer seems appropriate
Almost all professionals who already use AI have been able to gain back valuable time in their day-to-day work - 99%, according to the study. They reinvest this time in three ways: 49% are more productive, 44% complete more creative or complex tasks and 27% coach or mentor other team members. As a result, the majority of workers surveyed worldwide (92%) want to hand over some of their daily tasks to AI. These results illustrate why a hesitant attitude towards AI is no longer appropriate.
This also has implications for companies, because the more tasks AI takes on, the more companies benefit from it. Three in five (61%) executives worldwide state that their organizations have increased their use of AI in the last six months; a further 54% plan to continue to increase its use in 2025.
Prospect of AI beats home office offer
The Freshworks survey also measured employee demand for AI in the workplace globally. Employees were asked what they would give up to continue to have access to AI in the workplace.
37% would give up benefits such as working from home and 40% would give up company parties. Without AI, 38% of respondents worldwide (29% in Germany) would not be able to manage their workload.
