Weidmüller
Initiative for switch cabinet construction
Weidmüller, Komax, Zuken and Armbruster Engineering have founded the 'Smart Cabinet Building' initiative for new solutions in control cabinet construction.
The companies Weidmüller, Komax, Zuken and Armbruster Engineering founded the 'Smart Cabinet Building' initiative in April in order to jointly leverage the potential of digitalization in enclosure construction with tailored, end-to-end solutions. "The aim is to provide holistic solutions for current and future challenges in cabinet building by networking technology and expertise across all process steps," explains Volker Bibelhausen, Chief Technology Officer and Spokesman of the Executive Board at Weidmüller. Control cabinet construction in particular, with its still high proportion of manual activities, offers very promising approaches here - from component selection and the prefabrication of cable harnesses, equipment and housings to assisted final assembly and testing before commissioning.
In this context, Weidmüller contributes expertise in the automatic assembly and labeling of terminal strips as well as manual activities. Zuken contributes expertise in digital development data, which is provided for automatic processing and used on Komax machines for fully automated cable assembly, while Armbruster Engineering complements the initiative with know-how in assisted assembly.
The basis for networking the process steps is the digital twin, a complete digital description of the control cabinet and its components, which can be used to control the various process steps.
