Inka Krischke,

From a 6-man company to a system provider

The Jumo Group, which is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, performed well in 2022 despite an increasingly challenging market environment, as CEO Dimitrios Charisiadis announced with satisfaction at the annual press conference.

The Group's consolidated turnover rose to over 300 million euros for the first time in the company's 75-year history. "Despite numerous global crises, the growth trend from the previous year continued and we were able to increase our turnover from EUR 281 million in 2021 to over EUR 300 million. Our consolidated turnover has thus grown by 50% since 2012," explains Dimitrios Charisiadis.

Jumo Germany increased the previous year's turnover by 7% to €217 million. Domestic growth amounted to 6%, while exports increased by 7%. The company's export ratio remained stable at 54%. The largest increases were recorded in the thermal process sector (+25%), followed by HVAC (+17%) and renewable energies (+12%).

In 2022, investments were made in machines, systems and tools worldwide. In 2023, this sum will be significantly higher due to the go-ahead for the construction of an additional production site in Fulda: A plant for the production of temperature and pressure sensors with a production area of 13,000 m² will be built. At 48 million euros, this new building is the largest single investment in Jumo's history - with sustainability and smart factories at the top of the agenda.

While Germany's gross domestic product grew by 1.9% in 2022, the forecast for 2023 is just 0.2%. The German electrical industry is expecting similar sector growth. Jumo, on the other hand, has clearly committed to an above-average growth target and plans to increase turnover by 11% to 340 million euros in 2023.

Among other things, three products presented at the press conference will pave the way for this: For the first time, Jumo has taken up the possibilities of Ethernet-based SPE technology and integrated it into three sensors, the humidity, CO2 and temperature transmitter 'Hydrotrans', the flow transmitter 'Flowtrans MAG H20' and the pressure transmitter 'Delos S02'. The choice of Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) technology for the new devices gives users the option of using complete system solutions with end-to-end Ethernet transmission in their applications.

Also new is the 'Varitron 500 touch' - the first Jumo device with a capacitive touchscreen. The central unit and display are built into one device. This means that Jumo now has an entire PLC family. The new controller is available in 7 and 10.1 inch versions and with IP65 or IP69K protection. Standards such as Codesys V3.5 and Node-RED serve as development environments. Codesys is the central element of the PLC.
