Security study by Bitkom51 billion euros in damage due to cyber attacks
In the last two years, every second company in the German industry has been the target of cyber attacks - according to Bitkom, the damage amounts to 51 billion euros per year. Who are the victims and who are the perpetrators? How badly is the mechanical and plant engineering sector affected?

What reasons do companies have for not activating any other tracking bodies? Around a third of those who have not informed government agencies cite "fear of negative consequences" as a reason. This could be the securing of evidence such as computers. In extreme cases, the company is then no longer able to work. 31% cite the high cost as a reason - the events have to be documented and the investigators have to be supported in their work. A quarter are concerned about damage to their image if the incidents become public. Just as many refrain from reporting the crime as they assume that the perpetrators will not be caught anyway.
