Security study by Bitkom51 billion euros in damage due to cyber attacks
In the last two years, every second company in the German industry has been the target of cyber attacks - according to Bitkom, the damage amounts to 51 billion euros per year. Who are the victims and who are the perpetrators? How badly is the mechanical and plant engineering sector affected?

Only one in five companies that are victims of a cyberattack turn to government agencies to initiate an investigation into the incident. Almost a third called in external specialists. One in ten companies even state that they did nothing at all. Bitkom sees this low number as a problem: investigating authorities can only work successfully if they are aware of the crime.
