Generalized physical AI pipeline for production automation

Vention launches 'GRIIP (Generalized Robotic Industrial Intelligence Pipeline)'. The end-to-end pipeline for physical AI enables the use of autonomous robot cells in highly unstructured manufacturing environments.

GRIIP delivers a unified pipeline from perception to motion by integrating Vention's proprietary models with open Nvidia Isaac models - specifically Nvidia FoundationStereo for stereo matching and Nvidia FoundationPose for pose detection. The pipeline automatically handles scene digitization and calibration, object detection and segmentation, 6DOF pose estimation, grasp point evaluation and collision-free path planning, and adapts to real-world conditions without manual configuration.

The architecture continuously evolves by utilizing the latest Physical AI models and improves performance over time without hardware upgrades or manual intervention. Software updates are carried out via MachineMotion AI, either via Wi-Fi or integrated LTE connectivity.

According to the provider, GRIIP delivers industry-standard results with validated performance:

  • Consistently reliable picking performance in 24/7 operation over three months.
  • Cycle times of up to five parts per minute are maintained without any drop in performance.
  • Sub-millimeter accuracy in pose estimation.
  • CAD-to-pick setup in 15 minutes, full implementation in under two days.
  • Adaptive performance across different part geometries and material properties, including surface finish, transparency and environmental variations.

The AI pipeline is ready to use out of the box without training data or custom data sets, allowing manufacturers to directly implement new robot cells and add new parts without programming. It uses the same technology for multiple tasks and use cases within a factory, including bin picking, machine tending, conveyor pick-and-place, kitting, palletizing and grinding. GRIIP runs on Vention 's MachineMotion AI controller (powered by Nvidia Jetson) and can transform existing, traditionally programmed robotics applications into autonomous operations.
