"Bosch is one of the largest manufacturing companies in the world. We understand factories inside out. This know-how flows into our software development. Our solutions are from users for users, because we also use our software in our own factories," says Dr. Tanja Rückert, member of the Board of Management of Robert Bosch GmbH.

ctrlX Automation: the open automation system

With 'ctrlX Automation', Bosch Rexroth has developed an open automation system that has won over 2000 customers since its launch five years ago. The ctrlX World partner network now comprises more than 100 companies that enrich the offering with software and hardware enhancements. The ctrlX OS operating system is growing continuously and allows the integration of a wide range of automation technologies thanks to its open interfaces. "Increasing digitalization requires new solutions that allow systems to be networked and offer openness in all directions. Co-creation and open ecosystems enable companies to pool their strengths, develop innovations together and react much faster to market changes," says Thomas Fechner, Member of the Executive Board at Bosch Rexroth.

Industry 4.0 software Nexeed: transparency in production

The Industry 4.0 software 'Nexeed' from Bosch Connected Industry ensures transparency in production and optimizes efficiency. With AI-supported process analysis, the causes of rejects can be identified at an early stage, maintenance intervals optimized and production costs reduced. The software is used in 150 Bosch plants as well as by international customers such as Sick and Osram. Thanks to open interfaces, Nexeed can be integrated into existing industrial platforms and linked to other systems such as ctrlX Automation.

Bosch Semantic Stack: Exploiting the full potential of data

Among other things, Nexeed supplies data for the Bosch Semantic Stack, which creates a semantic data layer and thus generates digital twins. "Companies are sitting on a treasure trove of data, but very few of them know what to do with it. We have the key to unlocking the value of this data," says Norbert Jung, Member of the Board of Management of Bosch Connected Industry. More than 400 million digital twins have already been created at Bosch in order to make data efficiently usable throughout the company. One concrete example is the Bosch Battery Passport, which will be used from 2027 for the EU regulation on digital battery passports.

Model factory Ulm: Insights into the factory of the future

At the Bosch Rexroth model factory in Ulm, innovative software and automation solutions are demonstrated using real production scenarios. Since opening in 2021, around 8400 visitors have been able to experience the possibilities of flexible and sustainable factory automation. The model factory shows how existing production environments can be efficiently transformed in order to react flexibly to market changes.

With these technologies, Bosch is underlining its ambitions in software-supported manufacturing and setting new standards for the digital transformation of industry.
