Trinamic
Sensorless real-time control for industrial motors
The embedded motion control modules from Trinamic enable integrated, sensorless real-time control and regulation of larger industrial motors. According to the company, they can reduce power loss by 50 %.
Trinamic Motion Control has two new sets of pluggable embedded motion control modules and development tools for sensorless real-time control in its portfolio. The complete controller/driver modules minimize the communication requirements of the motor control system by processing critical real-time functions directly and reducing the load on the system processor. According to the company, the control technology can be used to optimize the power consumption of industrial motors and reduce power loss by around 50 %. It also enables the use of three times larger industrial stepper and brushless DC motors (up to 7 A).
2-phase bipolar stepper motor solutions
The TMCM-1230 for a motor current of 5 A and TMCM-1231 for a motor current of 6.5 A are integrated single-axis controller/driver slot modules. They each supply 2-phase bipolar stepper motors and have the same form factor and pinout for easy interchangeability. Both modules use Trinamic's sensorless technology to detect the motor's power requirements in real time and then adjust the power supply. According to the company, this reduces power consumption by more than 50% compared to competitive solutions.
Field-oriented control solutions
The TMCM-1637 (motor current 5 A) and TMCM-1638 (motor current 7 A) field-oriented motor control/driver modules also support Hall and ABN encoders for field-oriented control (vector control). These modules are suitable for single-phase direct current (DC) motors, 2-phase bipolar stepper motors and 3-phase BLDC motors.
