In the event of technical problems, Kuka Industries service technicians are available online and, for RemoteService contract customers, with a guaranteed response time. The technicians do not travel to the machine, but the machine comes online to the service technicians. In most cases, they only need to look at the system status and the available messages to identify and rectify the fault. The technicians gain access via a direct connection to the "Kuka RemoteService Client", a compact "Kuka Connectivity Box" that is installed as standard on every new system from Kuka Industries. The system is connected to a "Kuka Connectivity Box" via an Ethernet connection and this is then connected to the Internet. If no LAN connection is available, the box can also be equipped with a UMTS data card via a USB stick. An automatic notification of the system status, called "Heartbeat", which is sent to Kuka once a day, ensures that the connection can be established without any problems in the event of a fault. If necessary, the service technician can access the current machine data of all system parts after approval by the customer. A secure VPN connection with end-to-end encryption protects against unwanted external access.
