Helmholz
Test access point for Ethernet networks
The TAP IE 100 Ethernet Test Access Point captures traffic to provide the visibility needed to continuously secure, monitor and manage an organization's network infrastructure.
The Ethernet Test Access Point from Helmholz is installed once and permanently between two network devices and acts as a permanent measuring point in systems. In the event of a power failure, it does not shut down the system, but ensures time-saving access to the network traffic around the clock without disrupting the data flow. It works as a so-called 'passive' device. It can be used to create precise analysis logs in order to monitor the process and, if necessary, carry out a precise analysis of a possible error. Key features include non-reactive recording of Ethernet communication, secure and passive decoupling of Ethernet telegrams and monitoring of all OSI layers from layer 2 upwards. The Test Access Point is suitable for 10 or 100 Mbit/s networks. All data can be transmitted from both directions of an Ethernet connection. The Ethernet transmission via the line RJ45 sockets is sent separately on the two monitor sockets as a 'copy' according to the direction of transmission. The tapped packet data is evaluated and logged via a PC or another diagnostic device, for example with 'Wireshark'.
