IO-Link

Inka Krischke,

Second test laboratory in China

At the end of May 2024, the China-based company Nanjing Loyst Industrial Networks was recognized as a new IO-Link test lab. This brings the number of IO-Link test labs worldwide to four.

With Loyst, the IO-Link community now has its second IO-Link test laboratory in Asia. The picture was taken at the presentation of the certificate to the two specialists from China: Franz-Otto Witte, Li Bo, Frank Moritz, Wang Jun, Klaus-Peter Willems (from left to right).

The IO-Link Competence Centers and Test Labs support the dissemination of IO-Link technology and ensure the quality of IO-Link devices. While the Competence Centers advise various users, manufacturers and potential new members on organizational and technological issues, the Test Labs carry out conformance tests of IO-Link devices and IO-Link masters. "Loyst is now authorized to carry out the IO-Link tests independently and to enable manufacturer declarations based on the test reports," explains Frank Moritz, CEO of Profibus & Profinet International (PI). Loyst is one of the most active members of IO-Link China.

Great potential for IO-Link in China

IO-Link is attracting growing interest in Asia, particularly in China, where there are now over 100 members of the IO-Link community. IO-Link has been used primarily in the automotive and energy industries in recent years. As a result, the number of device manufacturers in the IO-Link community has grown, and with it the number of required conformance tests. The approved IO-Link test laboratory in China now allows Chinese manufacturers to bring their devices to market more quickly and easily.

For the final approval, two specialists from China traveled to the IO-Link Test Center TMG TE in Karlsruhe, Germany. The approval was carried out by the two existing test laboratories TEConcept (represented by Dr. Franz-Otto Witte) and TMG TE (represented by Klaus-Peter Willems) as well as the head of the IO-Link 'Quality' working group Frank Moritz (PI/Sick). In a theoretical part, the participants first discussed how conformance testing of both IO-Link devices and IO-Link masters is implemented in practice. Loyst has the TEConcept test systems approved by the IO-Link community.

With an IO-Link device and an IO-Link master specially prepared for this audit, Loyst demonstrates that the tests can be carried out properly. The approval as a Test Center was preceded by the approval as a Competence Center two years ago.
