The 'NetJury' test tool with programmable FPGA logic from NetModule enables tests of real-time Ethernet protocols (e.g. for conformity with the IEC 62439-3 HSR/PRP standard). This makes it possible to check whether end devices from different manufacturers - such as ABB, Phoenix Contact or Siemens - comply with the standards and are interoperable. TÜV Süd uses the tool for software conformity tests. In addition to conformance tests, the areas of application include tuning and regression tests, error-based stress tests as well as error tracking and development tests. In addition to a Xilinx Zynq-7000 module, the device integrates up to 1 GByte DDR SDRAM, 16 MByte QSPI Flash, Micro SDHC slot, 4 Gigabit Ethernet ports and an Ethernet management port. The hardware enables packet analysis and generation under real-time conditions in the nanosecond range. As the processor system runs Linux, standard Linux applications are supported. This means that existing test applications can continue to be used on the test tool and expanded with additional script-based real-time tests.
