5G transmission masts of the future made of wood?

The new 5G wireless standard aims to make communication and data transmission faster and more efficient. One prerequisite for this is sufficient transmission masts. The TU Kaiserslautern has investigated how these can be integrated inconspicuously and sustainably into the cityscape.

In their models, the students in the Department of Architecture at TU Kaiserslautern focused on the environmentally friendly material wood. The best designs are currently being rebuilt. Over the next few weeks, they will be built in Kaiserslautern as part of a pilot project.

The 5G test field

Cars, traffic lights and lampposts will be exchanging data via 5G in a few years' time. Dekra and Deutsche Telekom are therefore developing the Lausitzring test and race track as a 5G test field for intelligent mobility.
