Product innovations from the drives sector

Second generation of the Sinamics G120 from Siemens

With the second generation of the Sinamics G120, Siemens presents a modular inverter with higher power density and a space-saving size. The higher power density is made possible by the 'PM240-2' power section. The revised inverter series is available in three voltage variants for connection to networks with 200 V, 400 V and 690 V. According to the manufacturer, the devices are more robust against mains fluctuations thanks to an integrated DC link choke. They are designed with protection class IP21 and are therefore protected against dripping water. Depending on requirements, there are seven sizes with outputs between 0.37 kW and 250 kW. The inverters can be installed in a seal-to-seal design without derating. To reduce heat generation in the control cabinet, the inverter offers the 'push-through' cooling concept in addition to demand-based ventilation. Depending on the application, users can combine the power section with the appropriate control unit and other optional components such as operating panels. The function-enhanced control units offer precise vector control and basic positioning capabilities. The inverters also have an integrated safety concept up to PLe/SIL3.
