The 'Embedded City Box' (ECB) is the data-collecting basis for the digital management of cities. It was developed by industrial designer Luo Sha Liu from Corporate Technology in China and mechanical engineer Hai Liu from the Internet of Things unit. They see their cities grow and change every day. That's why they want to use the ECB to improve life in urban areas. The Internet of Things device is the visible part of the Connected City Solution. It contains various sensors and cameras, hangs halfway up lampposts and monitors air quality or traffic conditions. The data analyses run on a software platform. Sophisticated forecasting and simulation tools can be used to develop and compare different strategies for action. For example, it is conceivable that car traffic could be restricted in the short term by imposing driving bans, while at the same time increasing the number of buses or trains available.
