The regional origin of cyberattacks: Attacks from Germany and abroad are roughly equally distributed. Germany is followed by Japan, Eastern Europe, the USA and Russia. Almost a quarter cannot provide any information on the origin of the attacks. Looking at the so-called 'KRITIS' sectors in isolation, the perpetrators among the operators of critical infrastructure (such as energy and water suppliers, finance and insurance, transportation and traffic) come significantly more frequently from Russia, the USA, Western Europe and China.
