Dr. Dietmar Ley, Managing Director of Basler, is an advocate of standards: "As soon as we have a standard with USB3 Vision, we will also launch a standard-compliant camera series on the market." Since September, camera specialist Basler has been working with 19 other companies on the new USB3 Vision standard for industrial cameras, software and accessories. The aim is to make the USB 3.0 interface suitable for industrial use in a similar way to Gigabit Ethernet, Camera-Link and IEEE 1394. The draft should be completed by Q2, so that the specification could then be officially presented at the next Vision at the end of 2012.
