In the first half of 2012, nine offshore wind turbines with a total output of 45 MW fed energy into the electricity grid for the first time. According to Windguard, the expansion of German offshore wind energy is still lagging behind forecasts. However, with 'Bard Offshore 1', 'Borkum West II' and 'Riffgat', three new offshore wind farms are already under construction. Projects with an installed capacity of over 2,000 MW and an investment volume of around EUR 7.5 billion are expected to be under construction by the end of the year.
