Deutschmann Automation offers a configuration option for the 'Unigate EL' Ethernet/fieldbus gateway series using the company's own 'Wingate' software. According to the supplier, this provides quickly installable network components as central building blocks for Industry 4.0 applications. With the gateway series, standard Ethernet devices can be integrated into standard fieldbus and industrial Ethernet systems. If system manufacturers use these gateways, there is no need to develop suitable network interfaces; there is no need to adapt the device firmware. Based on the 'Unigate CL' protocol converters, a fast Ethernet interface is available in addition to the standard RS232, RS485 and RS422 interfaces. After entering the network-specific data such as the IP address, the device is immediately ready for communication via TCP/IP. If a different transport protocol is to be used, configuration is carried out via Wingate. The adjustable parameters are displayed in a context-sensitive manner depending on the changed transport protocol.
