The R2000 Detection 2D laser scanner from Pepperl+Fuchs is suitable for monitoring tasks such as overhang, gap and compartment occupancy checks as well as collision avoidance in automated guided vehicles, storage and retrieval machines, overhead conveyor systems or freely navigating platforms. It uses Pulse Ranging Technology (PRT) as its measuring principle. According to the manufacturer, the scanner owes this to its high immunity to ambient light as well as its high precision and speed. Thanks to the rotating measuring module, the scanner offers an extra flat scanning plane with a 360° all-round view. In conjunction with a beam diameter of just a few mm, it achieves an angular resolution of a maximum of 0.071° and detects the smallest objects such as thin wires. The laser scanner achieves maximum measuring rates of 54 kHz at rotation frequencies of up to 30 Hz. The data obtained is made available at up to four switching outputs as yes/no or good/bad information.
