The primary switched DC/DC converters PCMDS80 from MTM Power have been specially developed for applications in vehicle and railroad technology, but also for use in industrial and telecommunications applications. They deliver an output power of 80 W and operate according to the single-ended principle. The DC input voltage is chopped by a transistor with a frequency of around 50 kHz. With the help of a transformer and a series choke on the secondary side, an electrically isolated output voltage is generated, which is regulated by pulse width modulation according to the 'current mode' principle. The converters have three input ranges and thus cover the common 24/36/48/60/72/80/96/110 V battery networks in accordance with EN 50 155. The devices are open-circuit proof and short-circuit proof thanks to power limitation on the primary and secondary sides.
