The 879-101 and 879-111 pilot boxes from Wago are used to control the charging points of electric vehicles. They are usually installed in distribution boxes, wall boxes and charging stations. Both boxes fulfill all the functions of charging mode 3 in accordance with IEC 61851 and VDE-AR-E 2623-2-2, including automatic selection of the charging current, continuous monitoring of the protective conductor continuity, switching the system on and off and checking whether the vehicle is connected in accordance with regulations. The devices also control the maximum charging current during the charging phase, determine the ventilation requirements in the charging area and block and release the charging plug. Pilot-Box 879-101 supports connection type 'Case B' and is installed where the driver has to use their own charging cable to connect to the charging point socket. Pilot-Box 879-111 supports connection type 'Case C' and is used where the charging point has a permanently installed cable instead of a socket.
