Day 2 began with a keynote speech by a former NASA astronaut: Jerry Linenger spent around five months conducting research on the Russian space station Mir and reported on his experiences, including a near-collision with a supply spaceship, computer crashes that led to uncontrolled tumbling movements of the station, and a fire in the space station as the most life-threatening event.
