6 VDMA, Wind energy expansion 2012 in the federal states

In the first half of 2012, most wind turbines grew out of the ground in Schleswig-Holstein and Lower Saxony. Together, the two northern federal states account for around 28% of newly installed capacity. In third place is Rhineland-Palatinate, a federal state in the southern part of Germany. In terms of installed capacity, around 12% of the total new capacity was installed there. This is followed by Brandenburg and Saxony-Anhalt with 11 %.
