The TranspaTect MultiTask photoelectric sensor from Sick can dispense with the use of reflectors when detecting transparent and semi-transparent trays and bottles and instead use machine parts as a reference surface. According to the manufacturer, the photoelectric sensor also reliably detects high-gloss, highly reflective or uneven surfaces. When installing the sensor, there is no need to attach a reflector and align the sensor precisely. A stable and matt background, such as a machine part, is used as a reference surface to which the sensitivity is intuitively taught via teach-in. The sensor is insensitive to soiling. Thanks to the integrated 'AutoAdapt' function, the sensor adjusts its switching threshold on a time-controlled basis in the event of dust or product residue on the optics. After cleaning, the original threshold value is automatically reset. This allows cleaning intervals to be delayed and machine downtimes to be minimized.
