Winner in the Society category: There is a shortage of doctors in some regions of Germany, particularly in rural areas or on the coasts, islands and Halligen. At the same time, the need for emergency medical care is growing due to the installation of offshore wind farms in the North and Baltic Seas. The Oldenburg Clinic has therefore developed a telemedicine network together with the company IQmedworks. The aim is to make high-performance medicine available in all regions of Germany and the world. A small device is installed on site, which transmits a person's vital data and high-resolution audio and video sequences to the hospital via communication channels such as satellite or mobile telephony. Doctors there can then make a diagnosis and initiate appropriate measures.
