With the groov Box industrial appliance, RS Components offers a hardware/software solution that was developed by Opto 22 as a tool for the Internet of Things in smart factories. The system develops and offers a web-based solution for setting up and displaying operator interfaces without the need for programming or coding. According to the manufacturer, it can be used to monitor and control automation systems and equipment. Wherever a network is available, users can access system data and receive notifications in real time. The possibilities of web-based networking can be used with a mini PLC, among other things, which is why RS has also included the mini PLCs from Barth Elektronik in its range. The devices do not require any additional components for autonomous operation and are therefore easy to wire, according to the manufacturer. The new Industrial Shields that have been added to the range are also suitable for use in Industry 4.0. The Industrial Shields range of PLCs and panel PCs combines the advantages of open source hardware (OSH) with the reliability of standard industrial products.
