Schuckert, dynamo generators, engine house at Linderhof Castle
© Siemens
From 1878, the dynamo generators in the engine house at Linderhof Palace produce electricity to light the Venus Grotto - making the entire system the first permanently installed power station in the world, albeit only for one "customer", King Ludwig II (photo around 1885). The first public power stations were not built until 1882 in New York and London.
