Bachmann has installed the Atom E600 processor from Intel in the current generation of the
MC210 and
MC205 CPUs. According to the company, the M1 controller can therefore also process complex applications at a high level. A 1 Gbyte DRAM was integrated as the main memory. Memory access to the retentive data in the NVRAM has been accelerated by mirroring into the DRAM, so that machine parameters, such as piece counters, can be updated with each cycle. In addition, an autonomous process image controller has been integrated, which independently processes the cyclical communication to the input and output modules and thus creates performance for fast process cycles; the computing power of the CPU is available for other tasks in the meantime. In addition to the serial interfaces COM1 and COM2, the processor module has two Gigabit Ethernet ports. Time synchronization for distributed automation and synchronization of real-time fieldbus protocols are carried out using time stamps in accordance with IEE-1588. A service laptop can be connected via a USB device interface. The operating temperature range is -30 to +60 °C.
