Eckelmann is launching the Machine Management System (MMS) to promote end-to-end networking and digitalization in CNC manufacturing. The MMS provides a real-time view of complex CNC manufacturing processes and is used to bundle all production-related management tasks on one platform - from order planning and material management to CNC program management and predictive maintenance. With OPC-UA, the company relies on an open IoT communication standard and modern web technology. The scalable, platform-independent solution can be used in the cloud or on-premises. The controller acts as an Industry 4.0 gateway and enables intelligent access to all sensor and actuator data from the machines networked with the MMS. As Eckelmann has its own CNC kernel, it can create a complete digital twin in the MMS. This allows machining processes to be realistically simulated in the MMS, for example to calculate the exact machining time from CAD/CAM data or to determine the remaining machining time of an order. The system is a scalable Industry 4.0 framework for any CNC manufacturing process.
