With the drive-based 'Sequential Motion Control SMC' function, users can reduce the programming and commissioning effort by up to 90 % compared to classic PLC automation, according to supplier Bosch Rexroth. With 'SMC', users program single and multi-axis applications directly into the intelligent 'Indradrive' drives without an external controller. The individual commands take over complete motion sequences and are strung together. They cover the majority of typical functions such as independent positioning axes, axis and master axis couplings, synchronous operation as well as cam disk applications and sequential movements. The range of applications extends from handling systems and test benches to flying separators. As Rexroth delivers the drives pre-configured, users are relieved of time-consuming routine tasks such as operating mode definition, diagnostics and error handling. The new function includes manual mode, a parameterization mode and automatic mode for processing the programs.
