Alexander Brosig (17) from near Buxtehude worked on controlling a robotic arm with the help of his feet and was awarded the "Prize for a special achievement in the field of technology". His solution is intended for all those who are no longer able to care for themselves due to an injured hand or arm joint. Brosig constructed a robotic arm from a kit and wrote several programs with which he calculated the desired movements in space and precisely controlled the robot motors. He also modified the computer mouse and keyboard using wooden boards, hinges and springs so that they can also be operated with the feet. For example, test subjects were able to cut a slice of bread without using their arms or hands.
