The Profinet/CANopen gateway from Systeme Helmholz enables CANopen devices to be easily connected to Profinet. At the same time, the gateway is a fully-fledged CANopen master and in this function supports network management, SYNC telegrams and node guarding/heartbeat for monitoring the participants. Parameterization of the CANopen participants via SDO telegrams and the management of emergency messages are also possible. On the Profinet network, the gateway is a Profinet IO device and supports transmission rates of up to 100 Mbit full duplex; up to 1 Mbit/s is supported on the CAN bus. The I/O data of the CANopen participants are mapped transparently and freely configurable into the Profinet network and can therefore be processed directly in the PLC. The gateway is integrated into the hardware configurator with a GSDML file and can be fully configured there. Additional software tools for parameterization or handling blocks for programming are not required. The features MRP (media redundancy) as well as diagnostic functions and an interface for online diagnostics round off the features of the device.
