The Airlink gateway series from Sierra Wireless provides a robust Internet connection in industrial and vehicle environments via 3G, 4G and WLAN. The 'AirLink GX' and 'ES' series with LTE and the associated 'Aleos' software platform are used as the hardware platform. The gateways are a flexible hardware platform with multiple interfaces and an integrated expansion slot. In combination with UMTS/LTE and WLAN, various configuration options such as redundant connections, WLAN as access or as a repeater are possible. Decentralized management and administration of the gateways is carried out by the Aleos software platform, which enables data to be transmitted securely against unauthorized access thanks to various embedded security features such as VPN (Ipsec, GRE tunnel). The software platform also provides a configurable environment for out-of-the-box setups. Configuration parameters, firmware, upgrades and regular software maintenance are carried out over-the-air (OTAP) with minimal user intervention. The device series offers an integrated sandbox software interface for individual applications. Direct communication with third-party hardware is possible via various interfaces (serial, USB, LAN) - for data exchange or to integrate and manage the devices in the remote network.
