Adlink is launching an Ethercat solution consisting of the IEC 61131-3 compliant automation controller 'Talos-3012' and the deterministic real-time I/O and EPS motion control system. The system enables real-time control of automated processes. The Ethercat master controller 'Talos-3012' is based on an Intel Atom quad-core processor 'E3845' with 1.9 GHz. The controller enables conventional PLC programming to be replaced by a PC-based programming environment with Softmotion function blocks. A single master controller controls up to 64 axes and - via a linked slave system - up to 10,000 I/O signals. The computing power of the controller enables simultaneous operation of the user interface, motion control, PLC and gateway operations in multitasking mode. According to the manufacturer, the modular design of the EPS slave system enables the flexible provision of a high channel density. Supported by a specific FPGA module, a RISC processor in the system provides a variety of I/O modules - analog and digital I/Os, temperature measurements, motion control and EtherCAT communication modules.
