The Protect PSC1 safety controller from Schmersal has a modular design and can be used flexibly. It consists of freely programmable compact controllers with IO extension modules for safe signal processing of mechanical and electronic safety switching devices. These compact controllers can be equipped with a universal communication interface that enables various fieldbus protocols to be selected and set via software. This allows individual protection systems to be configured using software. Safe cross-communication between different safety controllers via Ethernet SDDC (Safe Device to Device Communication) is also possible. Thanks to the optional integrated SD bus gateway, additional, non-safe diagnostic signals from the connected sensors can be forwarded to an automation controller via a standard bus system.
