To make it easier for developers of embedded systems to implement graphical user interfaces, SE Spezial-Electronic has added the LCM display platform from Simplify Technologies and its GUI library to its sales program to complement the LCD portfolio from Ortustech and Winstar. The display modules with integrated control unit, which are based on Ortustech LCDs and available with screen diagonals of 3.5 to 5.7 inches and resolutions of 320 x 240 (QVGA) to 640 x 480 (VGA) pixels, can be equipped with either a resistive or capacitive touch surface, depending on requirements. Sunlight-readable versions are also available as an option. Over 300 command options for graphics, touch and other functions enable flexible design and querying of the user interface, providing device manufacturers with a complete operating solution including touch, housing, computer and drivers. The ECUs are available in three performance classes: EcoEcu offers integrated computer units with 8-, 16- and 32-bit controllers for simple control and visualization tasks. It is integrated directly into customers' applications according to their specifications. The BalanceEcu and PowerEcu control units for medium and demanding requirements respectively are designed as plug-in modules for a baseboard, which offers a pin-compatible platform with scalable peripherals and memory for both modules. The baseboard is supplied in a customer-specific form factor, with the required interfaces and all necessary drivers. 'BalanceEcu' with an i.MX35 processor from Freescale supports the operation of touch displays with a resolution of 800 x 600 dpi, animated graphics and single-touch input. 'PowerEcu' is equipped with an 800 MHz clocked ARM Cortex-A9, 1 Gbyte DDR3 SDRAM and 1 Gbyte NAND flash. The module supports multi-touch input and full HD screen resolutions (maximum 1920 x 1200 pixels) with display diagonals of up to 24 inches.
