The 'NorthernStars' team at Kiel University of Applied Sciences is implementing successful projects in the field of robotics. A team of six students led by Stefan Wolff - an employee of the engineering service provider Ferchau and software developer - is currently working on the development of a 'Rescue Robot' for rescuing people in a collapsed house. The robot is to be constructed in such a way that it can ultimately map the surroundings, analyze people found for signs of life and note these on a map for targeted rescue. The team's aim will be to compete with the rescue robot at the German RoboCup Rescue League championships in 2016.
