Softing Industrial Automation bundles a free Foundation Fieldbus H1 configuration tool with the 'FFusb' interface. The configuration tool uses standard device description (DD) files and is used together with the manufacturer's 'FFusb interface' when replacing field devices. This application scenario involves the problem-free continuation of data exchange with the controller. The pre-configuration of a replacement device with the correct device tag (device name) and the appropriate communication parameters is carried out by the configuration tool together with the interface. The interface enables non-reactive access to Foundation Fieldbus H1 networks of a running system directly from a notebook or PC. Thanks to its compact design and transportability, it is suitable for temporary use in the field. In addition to the configuration tool, the company supplies a Foundation Fieldbus communication DTM with every FFusb, which supports all common FDT container applications such as fdtContainer, Fieldcare, Pactware and other FDT frame applications.
